It looks like we may get some wintery weather this week!
Please encourage student drivers to go slow, drive with extreme caution, and plan for extra time. Roads can often be worse than they appear!
Also please remember that we will go outside for recess unless the "feels like" is under 20 degrees or it is actively raining. Elementary students should remember warm outerwear on cold days and wear appropriate shoes!

The EF Agronomy team had a successful week at National FFA last week!

(Every team & every individual are divided into Gold, Silver & Bronze Emblem. There were 44 Gold Emblem Division Individuals and 10 Gold Emblem Teams out of 148 competitors and out of 37 teams, all teams are State Champions to qualify to compete at Nationals.)
Westyn was 1 of 24 kids in the contest that is a new Certified Crop Advisor, that scored a 70%+ on the written test.

We celebrated academic excellence at our assembly this week. Students were recognized who achieved scores in the 80th percentile or higher in one, two, and three subject areas on their MAPS test for fall.

We celebrated fall sports and activities today with some recognition and fun games planned by Student Council!
Good luck to all of our teams rounding out their seasons in the next couple of weeks and to the students competing at National FFA next week!
Sophomores spent the day in Holdrege with people from the Nebraska Extension and other ESU 11 students participating in activities that will help prepare them for their futures: Myers and Briggs Personality assessment, learning what skills they can develop that will lead to job satisfaction and those they already possess that might lead to burn out, and the real cost of living on their own were just a few. They then heard from professionals from the area and got some great advice before trying to earn a job they would enjoy through a hands-on simulation.

Last week, the Class of 2025 spent the day applying to colleges, creating their FFSA IDs so they are ready for December, creating and updating their resumes, and working on scholarships.
They were treated with Scooters and Mid Plains rep Haley Kobza brought donuts and assisted students in the application process.
11 of 12 seniors participated and applied to over 36 colleges. Things are getting real!!!
The 6-8th grade student attended a college campus visit at Mid Plains Community College in North Platte. At the north campus they learned about the Electrical, Construction, Welding, HVAC, Automotive tech - gas and diesel, and Auto Body programs and saw how hands on the programs are.
In the south campus, they saw classrooms and the newest health sciences addition to campus including the Paramedic, Nursing, Sciences, and Dental areas. They saw what the apartment style dorm rooms are like, and finally had lunch on campus.
The afternoon ended at Camp Comeca where the students had fun together doing many of the activities the campus has to offer.
